We spoke to one of our members

For an engineering student like me, going through an experience like Formula Student is differential in many aspects, from the most personal to those that require a more collective attitude to achieve the objectives set and get the most competitive car at the end of the year. As a student who joined the team at the beginning of the course, I had been interested in competition for years and I never imagined having the sense of responsibility that a project of this caliber generates in each of us. If you have the possibility of spending a few hours in the workshop, one is aware of the number of hours that are needed to get small victories forward, which are ultimately the ones that cement the car ending up heading towards the competitions with the greater than expectations.

On the other hand, this feeling of responsibility is shared along with the rest of the classmates, from whom a very pleasant feeling of camaraderie is born. The possibility of having a space in which learning is the fundamental axis of the project that we carry out allows people with greater knowledge to share with you their years of experience in the team, thus managing to burn stages faster and feel that the learning curve within of the team is exponential the further the course progresses.

As a member of the aerodynamics department, I have had to face not only challenges related to my department, such as the optimization of such an important part of the aerodynamic package that we designed, such as the rear wing, but others such as the need to take into account such basic facts within the competition as the weight of the aerodynamic package, the manufacturing methods or the optimization of the materials to be used. These challenges push you to have at the end of this experience a more global knowledge of what a design and manufacturing process entails.

All of this requires an effort that you have to be willing to make, but which I am sure that anyone who has been part of this team can attest that they leave highly reinforced with the knowledge they have acquired, good friends and good experiences lived (and those that are to come).
